The mission of the Kansas Health Foundation has been and is carried out by many good people using the resources of the foundation’s endowment to achieve the highest possible good for the greatest number of Kansans. Our nine-member board and 24-person staff understand that the health of each of us is affected by the health of all of us. We conduct listening tours across the state to hear directly from Kansans about those issues that most affect their health. We convene people from various constituencies to hear and incorporate their perspectives. Together with our own research, this information has been used to formulate and periodically refine long-term goals that help guide our actions. Our assets have grown over the past 20 years from the $200 million initial endowment to more than $490 million. During that same period, we have distributed more than $320 million to projects and initiatives to improve health in this state.
