In 2008, the Kansas Health Foundation joined with a number of other funders in Kansas to support the Dental Hubs and Spokes Initiative, a project managed by the Kansas Association for the Medically Underserved (KAMU). The Hubs and Spokes model was designed to increase the geographic expansion of access to oral healt h care throughout the state, particularly for low-income families.
